What do you do when you see an injustice in the world? As a spiritual person, you have to grapple with whether to handle it through external action or through healing it within.
The answer is probably in the middle. But it starts with learning how to let go of anger.
Why Anger Is a Signal, Not a Problem
After I saw an injustice recently, my first response was to gossip about it. Complain. And then I realized: the gossiping and complaining were happening because I was angry.
But underneath anger is always fear. Anger is a masking emotion pointing to underlying fear or grief.
A Course in Miracles teaches that fear is a misperception. It means we’re unable to identify the creative solution available in that moment. We can’t see the miracle that already exists.
So learning how to let go of anger isn’t about suppression. It’s about feeling through so you can access what’s underneath: the creative response.
Why Attacking Injustice Backfires
When you attack an injustice directly, you force more attack. It’s like attacking a mirror. You’re attacking yourself.
First, you have to feel through your big feelings. The anger, fear, grief, upset. The reason you do this is because it tunes you to a higher frequency that opens your decision space.
From that expanded place, you can see where to be a creative activator. God puts impulses on your heart. Inspired actions. Not reactive responses.
How to Let Go of Anger: The Process
Step one: Feel through your projections. The fear. The anger. The masking emotions. Get back to a balance point.
Step two: From that balance, ask: “How can I be of value here? What’s the creative solution I can bring to this?”
It might not strike you immediately. But over the next few days, it arrives as a creative impulse. A great idea.
You lose access to the highest solution if you’re gossiping and complaining. There’s a place for venting with a trusted friend or therapist. But at some point, you decide: “I know my projections now. How do I actually want to perceive this?”
Reframing the Injustice
Usually when you see injustice, you’re perceiving someone as a victim. You want them to have a better experience. Or maybe you feel like the victim yourself.
Here’s the pivot: What would the ideal situation look like?
As you raise your energy to that ideal, all your biases will come up. It’s easy to want revenge. To punish the perpetrators.
But that’s not your job. Judgment belongs to reality. To the Law of Attraction. To karma. Your job is to see the creative solution.
You visualize with as much clarity as you can what the ideal looks like. You hold that sensation in your belly, your nervous system. The longer you hold it, the more God puts the exact actions on your heart.
How to Let Go of Anger Through Vision
You’re an artist of your reality. Rather than immediately trying to right what you perceive as wrong, recognize that everything is happening in perfect karmic order.
Everyone is getting experiences tuned to their particular nervous system. You can help people release victimhood so they stop attracting more of it. You can usher in creative solutions that create new bandwagons for thriving.
That’s different from ground-level reaction.
