What We'll Cover

There’s a difference between chatting with AI and building with AI. The shift happens when you move from a chat interface to a file-based workflow.

The Setup

I don’t use Cursor as a code editor the way it’s designed. I use it as:

Left sidebar: All my files and folders
Top pane: View and edit files
Bottom pane: Claude Code running in the terminal

This is your creative cockpit. Files on the left, editing in the middle, Claude at the bottom.

Why Files Matter

When ChatGPT generates something, if you want to change one sentence, you have to regenerate the whole thing. In a file-based workflow, I can:

Open the file Claude created
Edit one word myself
Tell Claude I made edits
Ask Claude to improve the prompt based on my edits

Claude becomes a self-learning engine that gets better at my voice over time.
