There is a lot of feeling that has to happen to turn an unwanted condition into a wanted one in a way where I will actually believe it. You can’t skip the emotional work and expect real change.
When I am conscious, I can see what’s happening in my day-to-day and pull a condition to the surface to be processed. When I am unconscious, the condition just controls me without my awareness. Most of us live in that unconscious state, wondering why the same patterns keep repeating.
How to Transmute Beliefs That Hold You Back
This is the process I use to transmute beliefs from dark to light. It’s not complicated, but it requires honesty and willingness to feel uncomfortable things.
Step 1: Define the condition. What’s the unwanted pattern? Name it specifically. “I feel unseen.” “I never have enough.” “People always leave.” The more specific you can be, the better. Vague conditions stay hidden.
Step 2: List all instances. When has this shown up? Go back as far as you can remember. Each memory carries emotional charge that needs releasing. Don’t skip the small ones. They add up.
Step 3: Pray for help. Ask God to help you feel what you need to feel. You’re not strong enough to do this alone, and you don’t have to be. Asking for help is part of the process.
Step 4: Sit with the feelings. Don’t rush. Don’t fix. Just feel. Let the emotion move through your body without making it mean anything. This is the step most people skip. This is the step that matters most.
Step 5: Focus on the wanted condition. What’s the opposite of the pattern? “I am seen.” “I have more than enough.” “People stay.” Let yourself imagine what that would feel like.
Step 6: Allow those desired feelings. Feel what it would feel like if the new belief were already true. Let that feeling settle into your body. This isn’t pretending. It’s rehearsing. It’s making room for something different.
Step 7: Rinse and repeat. This isn’t a one-time fix. It’s a practice. Some conditions need processing dozens of times before they release. That’s normal. Keep going.
Why This Works
You can’t think your way into new beliefs. You have to feel your way there. The old pattern has emotional weight. Until you process that weight, affirmations bounce off. They can’t penetrate the armor of unfelt emotion.
This is why positive thinking alone doesn’t work. It’s trying to build a new house on a foundation of unprocessed pain. The new beliefs have nowhere stable to land.
The Alchemical Process
To transmute energy is to change its form without destroying it. You’re not getting rid of the dark. You’re transforming it. The pain becomes fuel. The weight becomes wisdom.
This is real alchemy. Not turning lead into gold, but turning suffering into understanding. Turning wounds into gifts. That transformation requires feeling what you’ve been avoiding.
To transmute beliefs, feel the dark fully. Then the light has somewhere to land. Then the new belief can take root.
