I have been saying NO to things that do not feel totally aligned.
That seemed like a good practice.
There is a certain movement happening in some communities that is centered around the if it is not a hell yes, it is a hell no philosophy.
Mind Versus Soul Alignment
But there is a difference between mind-aligned and soul-aligned and it can be difficult to tell the difference at first.
One can be like candy, the other like medicine. In the moment you want one, when in the long term you need the other.
What if life is offering some of those experiences that do not feel so aligned to bend us in ways that will serve future experiences?
The Surrender Experiment
I am almost finished with a book that was recommended to me by three different people all within a week. The Surrender Experiment by Mickey Singer.
It is about Mickey Singer’s life and how surrendering into whatever life gave him in every moment put him on a beautiful journey of spiritual, personal, and business growth.
In the book he speaks of how he trained himself to quiet personal preferences and show up fully to what life presented him, even when the voice in his head did not want to. He learned to surrender to soul alignment and tune out mind alignment.
Weighing the Voice
I have been performing a similar experiment with my life, only I have said NO a lot more than Mickey did. The voice in my head still gets weighed in most decisions.
That might be a mistake. Maybe those opportunities I have said NO to are here to bend me?
Mickey just kind of gives into the momentum of whatever experience shows up. And that is likely why so much magic falls into place for him.
Surrender as Hell Yes
I have experienced magic myself, but I am going to go a level deeper now.
I am going to heavily consider whether something is a NO because of superficial personal preferences from the mind, or if it is a NO that is actually a YES, here to bend me and help me grow in a direction that is important for the soul.
The shift in the surrender experiment is that you train yourself that surrender itself is a hell yes. That means anything you surrender to allows you to act fully in non-resistant energy.
You become soul aligned with surrendering in full presence to whatever life gives you.
Every Opportunity Ripe
It reminds me of when I used to work an office job and I would take the menial tasks assigned to me and turn them into walking meditations. In that way, those menial tasks helped me grow spiritually.
Why wait for the right opportunity from the mind when surrender can make every opportunity ripe for spiritual growth from the soul?
Saying NO too quickly or too often might just be the mud under the wheels that prevents us from moving forward.
Perhaps the traction so many of us are seeking comes from absolute surrender.
