MaxLife Podcast Pre-Interview - Ben Laws - Who Is Jon Ray?

MaxLife Podcast Pre-Interview – Ben Laws

MaxLife Podcast Pre-Interview

Hey Ben

Guest: Jon Ray · Episode Length: ~1-2 hours

Quick apology – I should have gotten this to you earlier. Your email got buried and I just found it again when searching for tomorrow's instructions. Here's everything you need in one place.

⚡ IMPORTANT: Everything on this website was built with Claude Code + Cursor + APIs.

The theme, the pages, the content, the backend – all of it. Browse around. You are looking at what one person can build when AI is used as infrastructure, not just a chatbot.

Thanks for having me on the show. This page has everything you need to prep.

This site (whoisjonray.com) is my staging environment. I am launching the live site at whoisjonray.com in the next few days. Happy to coordinate timing with the episode if that helps.

What Makes This Conversation Different

I use AI (Claude Code + Cursor + APIs) to augment every area of my life and work. Not as a gimmick – as actual infrastructure.

Most people use AI like a search engine. I use it like a team member with perfect memory and access to all my systems.

The Stack: Claude Code + Cursor + APIs

  • Claude Code (Anthropic agentic AI CLI) – The brain. Thinking, writing, building, processing.
  • Cursor (AI-native code editor) – The environment. File management, .env files for API credentials, project organization. Where everything gets built and orchestrated.
  • APIs – The hands. How AI takes action in the real world.

What makes this different from ChatGPT: Claude Code can actually DO things. It reads files, writes code, calls APIs, creates content, and executes multi-step workflows.

Deep Dive: AI-Augmented High-Ticket Sales

Lead Sourcing & Enrichment

  • D7 Lead Finder pulls raw company data (7,000+ leads)
  • Claude Code + Apollo API enriches automatically
  • Only enriched leads get imported to HubSpot
  • What took a VA hours happens in minutes

Pre-Call Research

  • Claude Code researches the prospect
  • Pulls from HubSpot notes, company website, available data
  • Briefing doc with situation, objections, talking points, case studies

Post-Call Follow-Up

After the call, Claude Code drafts a personalized follow-up that:

  • References specific things they said
  • Matches relevant case studies
  • Creates HubSpot notes via API
  • Creates Google Calendar reminders via API
  • Sends Telegram notifications to team

The Result

One person doing the work of a sales team. Not because AI replaced the human touch – because it removed all the friction around the human touch.

Example: Personalized follow-up with matched case studies, CRM notes, and calendar reminders in under 5 minutes. That used to take 30-45 minutes.

Topics I Want to Discuss

1. Using AI to Augment Any Workflow (Primary)

The stack applied to: sales, content, websites, research, automation, emotional processing. Key insight: Most people use AI for one thing. I use it for everything.

2. Emotional Sobriety

After 9+ years sober, I learned quitting the substance was the easy part. The real work is "emotional sobriety" – feeling your big feelings without reaching for something to make them go away. Hustle is often addiction in a socially acceptable form.

3. What the Law of Attraction Got Wrong

22 years deep in LOA. What I realized: LOA is not an engine to get more stuff. It is a diagnostic tool showing where you have bypassed emotion that needs processing.

4. The Jesus Lightning Project

66-book mystical interpretation of the Bible (1,189 chapters). Anyone curious about the mystical, contemplative approach to reading the Bible. Built with AI-assisted publication pipeline.

5. Why I Left Google

Left in 2012 because I was afraid of getting stuck in something comfortable. My team was shifting into work that was not as aligned as when I started, and I was becoming someone who could not do misaligned work. Rather than do a mediocre job at something I did not 100% care about, I left to find something I could give my entire being to.

What I would do differently: Have a conversation about the misalignment with my manager rather than pulling the rip cord immediately. But I did not trust that I would not let myself get caught in golden handcuffs.

Episode Length ~1-2 hours
Format Conversational – happy to follow the energy

P.S.

If your audience is into AI workflows, I can go as deep as they want. The high-ticket sales workflow is immediately actionable for anyone running a coaching or consulting business. But I can also talk about the website builds, content systems, research methods – it is all the same stack applied differently.

The entrepreneur burnout angle might also resonate – I have done extensive research (actual Reddit posts, not theory) on what high performers experience: identity fusion with work, guilt about rest, the "if I stop, I die" feeling.

Looking forward to it.
