Breaking Old Patterns Through Patience and Grace

When a challenge arises, standing with patience and grace is a way of cutting energetic ties with old behaviors. Everything is always serving us.

From the Vault

I wrote this 9 years, 10 months ago. My thinking has probably evolved—some ideas deepened, others abandoned, a few transformed entirely. For how I'm currently thinking about things, check out what I'm working on today or Jesus Lightning.

Found this through Google? You just proved a point I've made often. This post is still working years later—no ad spend, no algorithm games. SEO is the highest-ROI investment any creator can make. I can help you build that.

Listen while you workout, cook, or commute.

I’ve been thinking about what actually happens when you’re patient in the face of seeming calamity.

Not the polite kind of patience where you’re gritting your teeth and waiting for it to be over. The real kind. The kind that changes something inside of you.

Cutting Energetic Ties

On an energetic level, I believe we’re presented with opportunities to clear old energy patterns and connections that no longer serve us. Life keeps bringing us the same tests until we pass them differently.

I remember hearing about how monks would sit in meditation all day, energetically cutting ties with past associations and energy streamers. They did this so the past no longer controlled their ability to command the present. They weren’t running from their history. They were releasing its hold on them.

When a challenge arises in our lives, standing before that challenge with patience and grace is a way of cutting energetic ties with old behaviors that might not serve us anymore. Whether it’s a mountain or an annoying phone call, the response matters more than the circumstance.

The Bounce Before Breakthrough

In my book and coaching sessions, I call this The Bounce. It’s the bump you have to climb in order to get to the next level of smooth sailing and activate transformation.

So it never really serves us, even when it’s full of good intent, to play the blame game. Why did I create it this way? Why didn’t I create it better? These questions keep you stuck in the pattern you’re trying to escape.

You Created It To Clear It

What if you created a seemingly frustrating circumstance because you’ve evolved enough to no longer approach it with negative energy, blame, or frustration?

What if you’ve been energetically bound from reaching new levels of potential? What if you created this frustrating event to break those bounds now and forever because you’re finally ready to move beyond their limitations?

Responding With Grace Changes Everything

Everything is always serving us. But it’s only in responding with grace that we allow a scenario to do what the monks have been doing in caves for an eternity. Cut the bonds that no longer serve.

When we show up gracefully in the face of adversity, we rewrite the energetic patterning of our lives. We open up a new opportunity for paradigm shift.

Your coworker wasn’t snide to you because they’re an asshole. They were snide to you by your own design. Because in your choice to respond to that event with grace and patience, you assert a new energetic pattern that begins to fractal out into the outpicturing of your vibration. Your reality.

All frustration is the opportunity to go higher. All we have to do is show up with grace and cut the bonds which no longer serve us.
