Being true to yourself is terrifying because sometimes we are so confident of something that it completely blinds our ability to see the actual truth. How do you define a jelly donut when you are living inside of it?
Very often it takes stepping back and looking at something objectively to really understand the profundity of any given scenario.
The Dance Around Truth
When easier, it has become all too comfortable to not only lie to ourselves, but to everyone around us. Often we skirt the truth to protect someone’s feelings, but are we actually doing anyone a favor by deluding them?
Many of us have gotten so good at this careful dance around the truth that we completely justify it. True, this dance sometimes ends when we speak our highest truth aloud. Feelings might initially be hurt. But this opens us up to new dance partners, more impactful music, and better moves.
My Own Lies
I have lied to all of you before. A couple of months ago I tried to describe how the Law of Attraction got me a job at Google, and how I was going to manifest a new stream of income and a promotion. These were both lies. Not lies to you, but lies to myself.
The only way the Law of Attraction works is when you give pure intent. I did get a job at Google using positive thought, because at that time there was nothing I wanted more. However, those later desires were designed to take my attention away from the things I really wanted. I thought by telling myself a bold-faced lie, I might forget about this crazy notion of quitting Google.
I invented a truth to satisfy my logical mind, but not come close to providing my heart with its true desire. To write a book, live by no rules, and express freely.
Mind Versus Heart
The mind loves structure. Life is actually very simple. The laws of the universe are very simple. Our mind steps in and creates systems for education, religion, and government, making everything so complicated that your heart will not have any opportunity to take charge.
Your highest truth is the thing you would do if there were no outside opinions that would cast judgement on you. If you were not dragging your entire past around with you, what would you do right now? There are no consequences, everything will work out in the most bizarre and amazing way. What would you do?
Inventing Lesser Challenges
My highest truths scare the shit out of me. I am amazing at inventing success for myself. In an attempt to outsmart my highest truth, I invent lesser challenges for myself.
So now I am getting real. I am trying to acknowledge and accept the highest truth in every aspect of my life. Every day I get closer to having something that resembles a book. And every day I have to convince myself that it is good enough.
Nice Guys and Highest Truth
Nice guys finish last because they are terrible about owning up to their highest truths. Nice guys would rather be miserable themselves than upset someone else, even if it is for everyone’s greater good.
Until you can accept and live your highest truth, you will never achieve your greatest potential in a way that is truly meaningful to you.
