Time Is an Illusion: How Consciousness Navigates the Domino Field of Infinite Potential

Time is an illusion that helps us navigate physical reality. But in the deeper dimensions of consciousness, everything is happening now.

From the Vault

I wrote this 9 years, 3 months ago. My thinking has probably evolved—some ideas deepened, others abandoned, a few transformed entirely. For how I'm currently thinking about things, check out what I'm working on today or Jesus Lightning.

Found this through Google? You just proved a point I've made often. This post is still working years later—no ad spend, no algorithm games. SEO is the highest-ROI investment any creator can make. I can help you build that.

Listen while you workout, cook, or commute.

Linearity only exists as a construct when you are physically focused into space-time. What we call “time” is really just the path our choices carve through an infinite field of possibility.

The Domino Field of Infinite Potential

Imagine an infinite field of dominoes stretching in every direction. Not a single line of dominoes, but a vast multidimensional landscape where every possible outcome already exists as a domino waiting to be tipped.

In the present moment, you have a handful of dominoes available to you. Some are small and easy to push. Others are massive and require significant energy to move. The small ones tip with a thought. The big ones feel like pushing against a wall.

This is what Tom Campbell, nuclear physicist and consciousness researcher, describes in his My Big TOE (Theory of Everything) framework. Reality isn’t a fixed timeline unfolding. It’s a probable future database where every potential outcome already exists as information, waiting to be rendered into experience.

How Reality Gets Rendered

Campbell spent decades working with altered states of consciousness at the Monroe Institute and later at NASA. His research led him to a startling conclusion: our universe is information-based. It’s computed. It’s a virtual reality generated by what he calls the Larger Consciousness System.

But here’s the key insight: reality only gets rendered when a consciousness observes it. Like a video game that doesn’t bother computing graphics the player can’t see, the simulation conserves resources by only manifesting what’s being experienced.

The present moment is where rendering happens. It’s where probability collapses into actuality. It’s where you choose which domino to tip.

Small Dominoes and Big Dominoes

Why can’t you just tip over the biggest domino right now? Why does manifesting your grandest vision feel like pushing against concrete?

Because energy alignment matters. In Campbell’s model, intent modifies probability. Your intent can make a potential event more or less likely to manifest. But you can’t brute force a low-probability outcome into existence.

Instead, you stair-step. You tip small dominoes that lead to medium dominoes that eventually give you access to big ones. Each small domino you consciously choose to push creates momentum. It unlocks new rows of dominoes. It changes which potentials become available to you.

This is what visualization and state change actually do. They aren’t wishful thinking. They’re you practicing the energy frequency of tipping larger dominoes. You’re pre-framing your nervous system for the moment when that big domino becomes available.

The 100,000 Foot View

Here’s where time becomes obviously illusory. You can zoom out to a balcony view, 100,000 feet up, and see the entire domino field at once.

From up there, you can see the dominoes you already tipped. The paths you chose. The ones you didn’t. The potential chains still waiting. The big dominoes you’re moving toward. The ones you’ll never touch because you chose a different direction.

All of it exists simultaneously. Past, present, future. They’re not separate moments on a timeline. They’re all here, all now, all available to consciousness that knows how to access them.

Campbell calls this the database system within the Larger Consciousness System. There’s a past database storing what’s already been experienced. And there’s a probable future database calculating what’s likely to happen next based on current trajectories and choices.

Advanced practitioners of consciousness exploration can access both. They can read probable futures. They can revisit past experiences with new awareness. They can perceive timelines that branched differently than the one they’re currently experiencing.

Time Is the Path the Dominoes Fall

What we experience as “time” is simply the sequence of dominoes falling. It’s the order in which we tip them and experience the chain reactions that follow.

But sequence isn’t fundamental. It’s just how physical consciousness navigates the simulation. Campbell describes it like being a player in a multiplayer game. You’re an individuated unit of consciousness (what he calls an IUOC) experiencing a virtual reality frame by frame.

The frames create the illusion of time passing. But step outside the game, zoom up to that 100,000 foot view, and you realize all the frames already exist. You’re just moving through them.

Conscious Versus Unconscious Domino Tipping

Here’s the uncomfortable truth. Most of us tip dominoes unconsciously. We don’t understand the causal relationships connecting one domino to another. We don’t see how our beliefs, fears, and unprocessed emotions are pushing dominoes we never consciously chose.

This is where shadow work becomes essential.

Your shadow, your unconscious patterns, is constantly tipping dominoes without your awareness. It’s creating chain reactions you don’t want. It’s locking you into probability channels that don’t serve you.

Until you bring those patterns to consciousness, until you actually feel through the trapped emotions and beliefs driving your choices, your domino field will keep manifesting the same patterns over and over.

Campbell frames this in terms of entropy. Consciousness evolves by lowering entropy, by moving from fear and chaos toward love and coherence. Every choice motivated by fear increases entropy. Every choice motivated by love decreases it.

The quality of your consciousness determines which dominoes you have access to and how easily they fall.

Lining Up Dominoes Consciously

Once you understand this model, manifestation becomes practical rather than magical.

You’re not wishing upon stars. You’re deliberately arranging your domino field. You’re choosing which small dominoes to tip today that will give you access to the medium dominoes tomorrow that will eventually unlock the big ones.

Visualization isn’t fantasy. It’s you exploring the probable future database and selecting which probability channels you want to strengthen with your intent.

State change isn’t pretending. It’s you practicing the frequency required to tip bigger dominoes with less resistance.

Shadow work isn’t optional. It’s you uncovering the unconscious domino-tipping that’s been sabotaging your conscious choices.

The Translation Process

Spirit or higher awareness exists in what we might call time-space rather than space-time. Information there doesn’t arrive linearly. It comes as energetic packets, downloads of meaning that you feel before you understand.

You might experience it as sudden love, excitement, or intense knowing. The feeling arrives first. Then you have an opportunity to unpack it into linear language that space-time can process.

This is what prophets and mystics and intuitives have always done. They read potentials from the probable future database and translate them into words that physical consciousness can act on.

But you don’t need to be a prophet. You just need to understand that your intuition is accessing the same database. When you get a gut feeling, a sudden knowing, a flash of insight, that’s you reading your own domino field from a higher vantage point.

What This Means for You

Time is an illusion in the sense that it’s not fundamental. It’s a navigation tool for physical reality. It’s the sequence you experience as you move through the domino field.

But the field itself exists outside of time. All potentials are already there. All outcomes are already available. The only question is which path you’ll carve through them.

You can transcend time by rising to that 100,000 foot view. From there, you can see what’s available, what you’ve chosen, what you’re choosing now, and what becomes possible based on today’s choices.

You can modify probability by aligning your intent with the outcomes you want while doing the inner work to clear the unconscious patterns working against you.

You can tip bigger dominoes by stair-stepping your way there, building momentum, practicing the energy state of what you’re creating before it manifests.

The present moment is where all of this happens. Not because the present is special, but because it’s the only place where your consciousness interfaces with the rendering engine. It’s where probability becomes experience. It’s where you choose.

This is the lens the Bible is meant to be read through.

Choose consciously. Tip your dominoes with intention. And trust that every small choice is reshaping the entire field of what’s possible.
