Passionate about: helping people reach their dreams, performing (in virtually any medium), learning, teaching, helping the human race live sustainability (hopeless but I *am* passionate about it).

You're close to finding your dream career. Might I suggest you add the word "next": finding your next dream career. In my limited experience, you change, your goals change, and your career changes. What's perfect for you today may change tomorrow. That's fine, it's all part of the process.

I wish I had your wide range of prior jobs. I've had a very narrow job history, in terms of industry, and getting further outside my own box earlier in life would have been tremendously useful.

"Overnight successes are 10 years in the making."

I so agree with this as an Actor and Entrepreneur and that's why I am so passionate about my career and how I run it as a business (it is!) and about our company PerformerTrack.

Actors who come to LA usually leave in the 8 year range if they "haven' tmade it"...and I find that they never really had great headshots, didn't weigh their acting investements (classes, pictures, networking memberships) with their return (bookings, connections, footage) and never sought to MEET agents, managers, producers, directors, etc. other than PAYING to meet them or PAYING to blindly submit. This is a relationship business for me as an Actor or an Entrepreneur and I am thankful for the opportunity to see this.

I so agree with you here:
"If you are not passionate about what you are doing, quit now and find something you are passionate about. Real success stories are born out of passion. If you weren’t getting paid, would you still enjoy what you’re doing?"

and I answer with a resounding YES on both fronts as a performer and entrepreneur because many times, it's not the money as a payment but a sincere thank you, a wonderful referral, a repeat booking. That's what keeps me going!

Enjoy the week!

I feel the same way. Life is weird for sure.

I started out as a Bio-Medical Engineer... got bored when I realized I was a lab rat... then went into consumer product design... where I found out I'm great at writing patents and doing 3D CAD... but products don't sell unless you ummm... advertise and market them properly... so I then went into "advertising"... which was really just partying and drinking in college... which led me to hate myself... which brought me into a church... that needed someone to make funny commercials for upcoming events... which led me to build my production company... which failed... but introduced me to some of the top companies in San Antonio... and now here I am... working for peanuts... but shooting on my dream camera (Red One) and doing post-production on a $15,000 (two actually) machine my boss can afford because I know how to build computers...

Who the heck knows where I'll go after that?!

Life is random, filled with ups and downs. I (as do many others) tend to concentrate on the downs I'm afraid.

I'm glad you're blogging about the ups.
