Would you, please, stop talking already!?

Annoying Guy

At every party, there are always one or two people that the room has labeled “annoying.” Either they are too drunk, or ramble on and on about nothing in particular. They continue to stay around, even after several subtle, non-verbal hints have been given that they should go elsewhere. Almost always, they are lacking any form of social etiquette. Their mere existence borders on irritating. Booze fuels this irritation. Do these people know that they are so socially inept?

I’ve always assumed that I am enjoyable to talk to at parties, networking functions and coffee dates. I like to think that from time to time, I say something that someone finds humorous and often times, I’ll go so far as believing that people like me. But, what if the annoying person in the room, doesn’t realize they are the annoying person in the room, even after so many subtle and not-so-subtle hints? If this is the case, there’s a very good chance that I could be that vexatious person in the room and not even know it!

How is it that some people can be SO annoying? Do they know they are annoying and simply ignore all the telltale signs that point to their bothersome existence? Or, are these people oblivious to the fact that everyone in the room is secretly wishing they would leave?

Am I the annoying guy at the party? How do you handle aggravating party guests?

Google Buzz
  • I think I'm the annoying guy at the party a lot of the time... especially when I have a guitar!...
  • Kat
    I assume this post is meant to be ironic?
  • This isn't directed at me is it?!

    Damn, I bet it is. And I'm only asking for this even more by commenting on this blog...

    Lose. Lose. I guess.

    I can take a hint... I'll sow my fingers together.

    @BrentwGraham

    (sorry, that whole disqus / fb sign in came with too much, it wasn't clear what it would do to my fb account and fb wall.
  • lmfao. there is ALWAYS that guy.
    i don't think you're the annoying guy at the party. generally the AGAPs i've encountered are the guys that no one knows that come uninvited, drink all your beer, and then come and stand waaay too close to you with their boozebreath and complain in your face that the keg is floated.

    as far as i can remember you have never done these things to me or in my presence, so i'd say you're safe. :)
