On 11:11 Wishes

Jon Ray: Twenty-Something: 11:11 Wishes: Photo

At some point in my life, someone told me that if you saw a clock that read 11:11, it was good luck and you should make a wish. I don’t know why, this doesn’t make any logical sense to me, but ever since said person told me this, I always do just that and make a wish at 11:11. What’s crazy is that I fully expect my wishes will come true, in the same manner that I expect to have sex if I find myself driving through three yellow traffic lights in the same day. There is absolutely no logic in this, but it’s something that I’ve done ever since I can remember. I also close my eyes, lift my feet in the air and make a wish if I’m driving under a bridge with a train crossing over it at the same time as I’m crossing under it. It’s pretty dangerous, I won’t lie, but I wouldn’t dare not do it. That would just be a good wish gone to waste.

Am I the only crazy person that is constantly finding reasons to wish for things?

  • I stay awake till 11:11 pm every night to wish on something I want. I used to wished on stuff concerning love, college acceptance, jobs, etc...some came true, some didn't. It was up until last week, when something I wanted so bad didn't work out, that I realized I was wishing for the wrong things. I can't tell you what I wish for now, but it's worked better than anything else I've ever wished for. It's like an ultimate wish that makes all the other wishes come true by association. Anyway, I'm having trouble putting words together right now--I just woke up. But 11:11 is a sacred time for me too.

I do that too- 11 is my number so I take these wishes very seriously.

Though, in my day, three yellow lights meant you were going to get asked out, not laid.

Another one you may want to add to your repertoire, along the line of the bridge/train thing, is to do the same when you drive over a cattle guard. I have no idea why, but I was told that when I was a kid and running around on small town ranches with my family.
