On “The Secret” (Positive Affirmations)

by Jon Ray on November 25, 2008

Before it got all commercialized and people started sporting bumper stickers, t-shirts and fanny packs to show their involvement, “The Secret” was referred to, by those in the know (me), simply as having a positive attitude. I strongly believe (and I’m not joking) that if I direct enough attention towards something, it will come into my life. I believe that it is that simple too. No real action required. This is why every morning, I wake up for fifteen minutes and just think about things that I want to happen in my life. After this, sometimes I will go back to sleep and sometimes, I will watch television, but regardless, my work is done for the day. Through the power of positive thinking, I am manifesting everything I want into my life without having to ever worry about any of the leg work. I suggest you try this, because it’s WAY easier than actually working. Fifteen minutes a day and you’re set. I’m calling it the two hour work week. The audio-seminar will be available soon at four easy installments of $79.95 and as an added bonus, I’ll teach you how to walk on water. (Actual messiahs need not apply)

This is part of a series of facts designed to help me figure out who I really am. Got some insight? Leave a comment.

LOL

very quickly. my thoughts on this whole Secret stuff is just that when you bring things your want into your conscienceless you have a greater propensity to spot opportunities that bring your closer to that goal or desire.

i have a very computer sciencey explanation for this too.

as far as manifesting a parking spot to appear up front at the mall. i think that’s as much BS as a man walking on water.

Affirmations never worked for me, because I’d say “I am wealthy and successful”, and my brain would say “No you’re not!”

But a friend told me about an author named Noah St. John who invented AFFORMATIONS. Afformations are empowering questions (not statements) and they’ve really worked great for me and my friends.

http://www.iAfform.com – he’s giving a free Afformation Stress Buster Session. I listen to these throughout the day and they’ve changed my life.

Enjoy them!

This was actually referred to me to, which although from a dear friend, I was unsure of what he actually expected me to get out of it. I set goals and complete them, I can really think of no complaints. I started to watch this and I fell asleep, however, I am convinced that most of the consumers out there would revel in something like this. I have heard people describing this as if it it were a modern day phenomena, my friend even reassuring me that it was going to change his life drastically. Really, spending a substantial amount money on someone convincing you that you do indeed have balls is going to change your life? I’ve come to the conclusion that this is a confidence issue, most people lack the confidence to do things they really want to do, and become content with conducting life in a half-assed manner. If “The Secret” aids in getting the general population to moving and out manifesting their life long dreams, wonderful, however, I think that “The Secret” is not actually a secret at all, I think people have just forgotten where they lost their confidence in being able to get what they want.

I am living proof that the “Law of Attraction” works. I don’t believe in coincidence at all. The only people it doesn’t work for are the ones who don’t know what they REALLY want. Once you know what you really really want and can visualize it, the only trick after you’ve put that vibe out there is to be willing to receive it. Some people throw up too many roadblocks.

But it’s true. I’ve been using this even before I knew what it was called. “The Secret” of course is just an exploitation of the Law of Attraction to make money and leech off that hungry Oprah crowd, but it does no harm. The LoA is completely real. In fact, the more you find yourself thinking about it and focusing properly, the more you will be attracted to others who are actively, or inactively using it. It’s fun when you have those moments. I just had one when I popped on my twitter and saw you mentioned this process. I’m trying hard to push this into my friend’s minds that are having tough times.
