It just show that social media online has made it easier of us to keep in touch with people all around the globe. So long as they are using social media, they can easily be found.

All great pickup lines, Lloyd. Although, I find I have more success when I program an animated avatar to present each pickup line via an ICQ chat room.

Oh balls. It's called flirting. Maybe he just didn't make it obvious enough that he was interested? These film-nut chicks won't take the bait unless you drop movie quotes as pick-up lines.

For instance, I've had mad success reeling in the celluloid hipsters with the following witty, ironic pickup lines that Jon could have utilized:

“I don't know how to put this but I'm kind of a big deal.”

“I'm storming your castle on my steed, m'lady.”

“Dancing is just a conversation between two people. Talk to me.”

“Pardon my lips. They find joy in the most unusual places.”

“You are everything I never knew I always wanted.”

"I could find the whole meaning of life in those sad eyes."

Two results her: Wake-up-next-to-her or Get-your-face-slapped-in-Starbucks. I'll take those odds.

Since Jon was relying merely on his meta taste in fiction and half-assed attempt at conversation, his chances were nil in ever getting a date out of this chica. That is unless he used his social networking skillz to wrassle up her myspace in 10 flat. Creeped out? Whatever, that's impressive. A guy needs every means available this days to successfully pick up a girl.

Besides, I've seen Jon stalk women and this doesn't even come close.

After an intense month of lifecasting, he's also been on the other end of a can't-take-no-for-an-answer stalking experience so don't think we can't turn the table on you social networking feministas!

We're really doing it Harry.

@Girl - You're right, it is creepy. I'm merely shedding light on the fact that social media is being used in ways that we might not realize on first thought. Whether the above story is fictitious or something that really happened to me is erroneous because the fact remains that this type of thing happens every day. I'm glad you voiced your opinion and I hope this gave you a perspective on social media that you might not have considered before. Regardless, I'd love to hear about ways that you feel social media can be a good thing.

That is really creepy. Not romantic, or whatever else you were thinking of, it's creepy. If the girl was interested in you, maybe she would have smiled back, instead of hiding in her magazine. Further more, how would you feel if some person, who you didn't know sent you a message because they had seen you in a book store, and decided they liked you based on how you looked, and what kind of magazines you like?
Sounds a lot like stalking.
